A Customized Ocean-Inspired Beach Sound Bath for a Vancouver Team Retreat
Corporate wellness experiences are most impactful when they feel thoughtfully designed rather than simply scheduled. The best experiences don't just help employees relax, they reflect a company's culture, create meaningful moments of connection, and leave a lasting impression long after the event has ended.
When Olive & Piper (a Canadian jewelry brand known for timeless, elegant accessories) began planning their July 2026 team retreat, they envisioned something a little different. Rather than starting the day with a traditional meeting or activity, they wanted to surprise their team with a calming experience inspired by the ocean that would help everyone slow down, reconnect, and begin the retreat feeling grounded.
Thanh Vo-Gamble reached out to Solar Soul Circle to create a custom corporate sound bath for approximately 15 to 18 guests at Sunset Beach in Vancouver. From the initial conversation, the focus wasn't simply on facilitating a sound bath, it was about designing an experience that reflected the retreat's seaside theme while creating an atmosphere that felt intentional, effortless, and memorable from beginning to end.

Bringing the Retreat Theme to Life
Every Solar Soul Circle experience is customized around the people attending, the event itself, and the feeling the client hopes to create.
For Olive & Piper, we designed an ocean-inspired experience that naturally complemented the beauty of Sunset Beach. Rather than relying on elaborate decorations, we incorporated subtle coastal touches including coral, seashells, a crab fossil, and other ocean-inspired décor to create a space that felt cohesive with the retreat theme while allowing the surrounding landscape to remain the focal point.
Because the retreat was planned as a surprise, we intentionally chose not to create our usual participant guide explaining what to expect during a sound bath. Instead, we wanted guests to discover the experience as they arrived, allowing curiosity to become part of the morning itself.
Each guest also received a thoughtfully curated gift bag with sea themed goodies, extending the retreat experience beyond the session itself and providing a meaningful keepsake from the day.
To make the experience even more comfortable, Olive & Piper added our optional Comfort Package, which included premium rentals for yoga mats, blankets, and pillows so every participant could fully relax.
The experience itself was designed to gently guide participants into a state of relaxation and included:
Gentle grounding to help everyone settle into the space
A short intention-setting practice for the team
Guided breathwork to calm the nervous system
A 45-minute immersive sound bath featuring crystal singing bowls, handpan, ocean drum, rain stick, chimes, and other soothing instruments
A grounding close so participants felt refreshed and ready for the rest of the retreat
Every element worked together to support the same goal: creating a memorable experience that felt personal to Olive & Piper and their team.
Planning for Every Scenario
The moments guests remember most are often supported by planning they'll never see.
Although Sunset Beach was always the preferred location because it perfectly complemented the retreat's ocean theme, outdoor events naturally require flexibility. To ensure the experience could move forward regardless of the weather, we also reserved Studio B at Granville Island as a backup.
We created custom layout mockups showing how the indoor space could be transformed, with the sound healing instruments arranged in the centre and guests comfortably surrounding them.
Fortunately, the weather cooperated, and the indoor venue wasn't needed. However, thoughtful contingency planning is an important part of our process because it allows clients to relax knowing every scenario has been considered.
Embracing Nature and Adapting Along the Way
Outdoor wellness experiences offer something no indoor venue can replicate, but they also require a willingness to adapt.
Before the retreat, Alex visited Sunset Beach to scout multiple locations, considering privacy, accessibility, acoustics, shade, and the overall guest experience. As the event approached, ongoing construction near our original location meant we needed to adjust our plans, so we selected a quieter area closer to the concession that better reflected the peaceful atmosphere we wanted to create.
We also tailored the experience around the needs of the group. Since one participant had asthma and was sensitive to fragrances, we chose not to introduce additional scents or environmental enhancements. Instead, we allowed the sound of the waves, the fresh ocean air, and the natural surroundings to become part of the experience itself.
Our team arrived well before guests to secure the area and complete the setup before the surprise began. Instruments, and decorative elements were thoughtfully arranged so participants could simply arrive, grab a yoga mat, settle in, and enjoy the moment.
For us, adaptability isn't about reacting to challenges, it's about planning ahead so the experience feels seamless, regardless of what the day brings.
The Experience Comes to Life
As the Olive & Piper team made their way onto the beach, they were welcomed into a thoughtfully prepared space overlooking the ocean. Soft coastal décor, comfortable seating, and the natural beauty of Sunset Beach created an inviting atmosphere before a single note had been played.
The experience began with gentle grounding and guided breathwork, helping participants slow their breathing, settle into the present moment, and leave behind the pace of the workweek. A short intention setting practice encouraged everyone to pause and reflect before being immersed in the soothing sounds of crystal singing bowls, handpan, ocean drum, rain stick, chimes, and other carefully selected instruments.
As the session unfolded, the natural rhythm of the waves blended with the instruments, creating an atmosphere that felt both calming and deeply connected to the surrounding environment. Despite being in the heart of Vancouver, the team was able to relax, disconnect from everyday distractions, and simply be present together.
The morning became more than a wellness activity. It became a shared experience that set the tone for the rest of the retreat, allowing everyone to begin the day feeling grounded, connected, and ready for what lay ahead.

The Results
A successful corporate wellness experience isn't measured by how many instruments are played or how beautiful the venue is. It's measured by how people feel when they leave.
For Olive & Piper, the sound bath became more than a relaxing activity. It created an opportunity for the team to pause together before the day's agenda began, helping everyone arrive feeling more present, connected, and refreshed.
Behind the scenes, careful planning allowed the experience to unfold naturally. From creating backup venue layouts and adapting to changing conditions at Sunset Beach to thoughtfully designing the space around the retreat theme, every decision was made with the participant experience in mind.
To help Olive & Piper remember the experience, we also captured photographs and videos throughout the morning, allowing the team to look back on a memorable part of their retreat and celebrate the experience together.
By combining creativity, preparation, and flexibility, we were able to create an experience that felt seamless for the client and memorable for their team.

Why This Experience Worked
Every corporate wellness event is unique, but the principles behind a successful experience remain the same.
Rather than offering a one size fits all session, we worked closely with Olive & Piper to create an experience that reflected their retreat, their team, and their vision. From the ocean-inspired setting and customized décor to proactive planning and thoughtful adaptations, every detail was designed to support the overall experience rather than simply fill time on an agenda.
This event also highlighted the importance of flexibility. Outdoor experiences naturally come with variables, but with careful planning and contingency measures in place, the team was able to enjoy a relaxed and immersive morning without ever seeing the work happening behind the scenes.
It's this combination of customization, preparation, and attention to detail that allows each Solar Soul Circle experience to feel personal, meaningful, and effortless for our clients.
